Why not Hollywood?
Burning Shores is the awaited expansion of the Horizon Forbidden West. It allows players to continue the journey of Aloy in the Los Angeles area. The expansion came out on April 18th.
Synopsis
After San Francisco and Vegas, now the adventure takes the player to Los Angeles. After Sylens contacted Aloy, to advise her that another Far Zenith member was in the area. She would capture a Sunwing and fly to the region on its back to search that region for the surviving member.
Politics are still a thing
Upon reaching the region, Aloy is shutdown from the Sunwing as they are welcomed by canon fire. When she land, she helps Seyka, a Quen fighting for survival against 2 machines. After defeating the machines, Aloy is escorted to the Quens camp, where she will quickly notice the fear amongst the population driven by the internal politics. It will be very important to tread lightly.
New limits
In the base game, the maximum level one could attain was 30, with the expansion now the limit is 40. There are also new legendary weapons and armor, but that would not be complete without the addition of new skills.
A winning streak
With Burning Shores, Guerrilla Games shows that you can continue on a same pattern and that is not bad. If you do so by incorporating new things that work, you keep the players on their toes. Providing something new and adding it to something that the player knows is not a bad thing. It allows the players to discover something while staying with the franchise. Players do want something that is slightly different and are willing to discover it. For those that are curious, yes, Aloy does find love in this expansion, it was not unanimous on the Web, but I will let you discover it and you be the judge.
Finale note
For review purpose the tests were completed on the PS5. The evaluation copy was provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Burning Shores is HOT and it is what we can expect from the expansion to the game.
