When you need more than one perspective.
Release on November 5th, Call of Duty Vangard returns the players to World War II, but this time we get to visit multiple theaters, whether it is the cold Eastern Front or the tropical jungle of the Pacific, players will get to take action into many different style, you could be sneaking around in air ducts or flying high in a Grumman Avenger during the battle of Midway.
Another year, another Call of Duty game, if there is something you can almost set your clock to, it is the release of a Call of Duty in autumn same as the leaves turning and falling. This time we get spoiled with a group of characters, this group is assembled to complete a very sensitive mission, but to get to know them better you will get to experience some of the fighting they took part of before going on this very special mission, which can shed some light as to why they were chosen.
Graphics and sounds are amazing for this release, but I have to complain again to the lack of freedom the game offers. What I mean is that with the number of open world games, isn’t it time that Call of Duty offers the same, in 2021 to still produce game that are linear and dictating on where the player should go is getting to be a bit outdated a shows a lack of imagination or skills. The openness of the terrain in the battle royale style of Call of Duty Warzone shows that it is possible, the only difference is that the challenge comes from other players and not by AI controlled NPC.
The game did offer something different, like the flying of the Grumman dive bomber plane, but I doo have to say that the controls were somewhat difficult and it felt more flying a ball on a string, and the avionics and plane reaction was more akin to flying the P39 Airacobra. Contrary to many other game, with this one you can’t get to comfortable with the character and the abilities as they change from one to the next. Like most of the games in the Call of Duty series, you almost feel like taking part in a movie, so enjoy the campaign and for a change of pace go online in the multiplayer maps.
Call of Duty Vangard is WARM at best, I feel that the game needs to progress and more openness need to be offered to the players, Activision has to do more, then just offering a game that is similar to the one that was created in 2003, there has been quite a few new consoles and play style, by just providing a title that changes the story, the time and the characters is no longer enough, so the graphics and sounds are on track with the new generation of consoles, but the game still has that run in a tunnel that leaves the player with just how quickly they can react to the enemies, but nothing on how to try to win the battle with different tactics.
The test for this review, were completed on a PlayStation 5. The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. this is the 18th title in the franchise history.
