In the name of Mirage, we will conquer you!

It was announced on June 28th that the all female team known as Sailor Scouts were joining the Northern Arena family and the professional eSport Team Mirage to become the Mirage Scouts. I had the pleasure of interviewing the team in the past and I was curious beyond the press release to found out more as to what this change would entail for the team as well as what had been the impact of the pandemic on the roster if any. Here is the brief exchange we had.

Q. I noticed that the there is mention of the addition of an R6 team, but I was wondering in the move did the StarCraft2 player also joined Mirage Scouts?

R. We disbanded our StarCraft 2 team before the pandemic as it was really difficult to recruit players for this roster. We will be focusing on other games for the time being.

Q. Will the team have the same coaching staff or will it be a new one from Mirage?

R. It will vary depending on each roster and resources available, but our new Rainbow Six Roster shares a professional coach with Mirage. Regarding Overwatch, we are currently working with the same coaching staff that were involved with Sailor Scouts as the team made a lot of progress in the past year and recently won their first tournament.

Q. Are there plans to add any other games or teams to the Mirage Scouts roster at the moment, in game like Dota2 or League of Legends?

R. Yes there are! We are currently looking at putting together our own all-women Valorant team as they are really invested in their mission to create new opportunities and exposure for women and other marginalized genders, with the Game Changer tournament for example. This is exactly the type of project that we love to support! It is totally aligned with our values at Mirage Scouts. We haven’t discussed other games for the moment but are definitely keeping an eye out for similar opportunities.

Q. Did the pandemic affect the team or the relation between members in any form?

R. I think that it’s fair to say that everyone on the team misses seeing each other at Lans and events. However, our players remain close friends and are used to maintain their relationships through gaming.

Q. Are you looking forward to meeting your fans in person again and will you have a new uniform?

R. Of course, we are! We can’t wait to show everyone our new Mirage Scouts jersey! Follow us on social to stay updated: @miragescouts

I am looking forward to see the team in action again and drop by to say Hello at the next tournament where fans will be allowed to attend in person, whishing them the best for the future, and do follow them!

I also contacted the founder and CEO of the Northern Arena, Carl-Edwin Michel. At the time of writing theses lines, I had yet to get any response from him, all I know is what was in the press release. Should I get a response later I will share it whit you.
