Looking for a way out
Dead Island 2 seems was in the works for a very long time, the game was finally available on April 21 first. This time the action take place in the greater Los Angeles area, and yes Hollywood is part of it all.
Synopsis
While trying to escape, your plane crashes, you and other survivors need to find a refuge. During the initial contact with the creatures, you get bitten, after a while since you do not turn into a zombie, the only possible conclusion is that you are immune. This finding is not important only for you but also a CDC doctor, needs to run some test, but to do so, you will need to reach him. The survival of the human race rest upon your shoulder.
Sounds familiar
Just as in The Last of Us, your character is immune and a doctor wants to fabricate a vaccine from your blood. And this is where the similarities ends. In this game, you do not go around in stealth, you charge head first in hordes of zombies. Yes, the game is messy!
A good mix
As it is with game like Dead Island 2, the main quest is important, but it is often the quantity of side quest that can make or break a game. This game contains an enormous amount of loot, some of it you will need to do side quest to acquire, others you just need to be lucky enough to eliminate the zombie carrying the key to the locked container. Since not all the zombies with the keys are located near the locked container, sometimes travel is required just to get to the loot.
Repairs and upgrades
As it is often the case in game, weapons will suffer wear and tear and will need to be repairs or fall into unusable junk. Collecting components and materials is an important part of the game, at least as much as the combat. It is possible to purchase some materials but the vendors have limited quantity, on the other hand they can also have some patterns to sell. Those can help you improve your weapon, even making it last longer.
Alone or with friends
You can complete the main story of Dead Island in solo mode, or in co-op. There are 4 types of sessions, solo, I don’t think I need to explain that one. Public, you start the game in solo mode, but anyone can join in your game. Invitation, for that one you need to invite people to your session. Last is Friends, in that session you can invite or your friends can join it. To join a game you must be at the same progression or further, the game you are trying to join cannot be ahead of your progression. For the older consoles, you can join a session but you can’t be the host.
Back and forth
The open in Dead Island 2 is somewhat limited, therefore you are often requested to go back to areas you have already been, to the point that it can be frustrating, but sometimes you go back for a good reason, like finding the key for the special locked box. Your inventory was full and you could not pick-up everything on your first visit, no worries you will another chance.
