Changing and not changing
Destiny 2 Lightfall is available since February 28th. After Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and Witch Queen, it is the 4 expansion added to the game since it launch in 2019 while it was part of Activision.
Changing ownership while remaining available
As Bungie returned to be an independent studio and took back control over the IP in 2019, that freedom was short lived. In June 2022 Sony announced that it acquired the studio. Both claimed quickly that even if the studio was part of the Sony family, the Destiny game would remain a non-exclusive franchise.
A known practice that still works
One of the main aspect of the Destiny franchise is the extent of the lore. The game remains a good mix of solo gaming and multi-players interaction, via PVE or PVP according to ones style of play. But the rich history and content are more of what bring the players back to the game. With the death of voice actor Lance Reddick alias Commander Zavala, the Destiny community held a vigil in his honor. That was a sign that the players can come together for a cause.
Finale note
For review purpose, the game was tested on the PlayStation 5. Destiny 2 Lightfall is HOT and is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One Xbox Series and PC. It is also now possible to play with friends via cross-play. For those that owns the game on multiple platform, it is possible to link all your accounts and have a single progression. All you need to do is go to the Bungie website and follow the instructions. Before paying for the expansion, try the game as it is free to play, and see if it is something for you. Once you get to know the richness of the lore, I am certain you will return for more.
