What 25 years of experience bring to the table!
There may still be snow on the ground in the northern hemisphere, but we can race cars right now thanks to Gran Turismo 7, for the last 25 years Gran Turismo has been the go to car racing simulation for PlayStation console owners. The game that was first introduced on the PlayStation or now known as the PlayStation One, way back in 1997.
The game has since evolved, but there are a few elements that remains, and the game would not be the same without them. First it has to be the abundance of cars. Those do range from the regular everyday street car, the the concept cars and everything in between. Location, location location, no this is not real estate, but racing in exotic places and world famous race tracks, location is important. but none of this would be possible without the proper driving licenses.
The world map as it called is presented in the form of a village with all the proper shops for the car enthusiast, from the used car dealer, the part store, and the tuning shop. To that mix add and a café where the owner is a car encyclopedia and the challenges are presented in the form of a menu. from collecting a certain type of vehicles to winning a certain championship, you truly never know what will be on the café’s menu next. and for the photographer in you, Scapes in a very fun way to make racing pictures within the game.
The game is after all a car racing simulator, and the physics are applied to the cars that you drive, therefore you need to adapt your driving style to the type of car that you are racing. I am a big fan of the DualSense controller, but in this case not so much, to fully enjoy Gran Turismo 7 and would strongly recommend in investing on a pedal and steering wheel combo, and if you but get allows it and you prefer to have the full control throw in a shift stick. As the cars get more and more powerful engines, they are so much harder to control with just the joystick of the DualSense.
There is one more piece of gear that I often talk about and Gran Turismo 7 gives me that opportunity again and that is the Pulse 3D headset, with the headset you really feel like you are in the drivers seat, not only can you hear the engine purring, but you get the sounds of screeching tires when you perform those sharp turn and you can even place the other cars around you.
Gran Turismo 7 is a 5 Alarm Fire, and is almost perfect, but the steering with the DualSense is getting difficult in the later stage of the game and take away part of the enjoyment. For review purposes, the test were completed on the PS5 with the Pulse 3D headset, the controller was a DualSense, The review copy was provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The was released on March 4th and is available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. You are a racing fanatic and are the owner of a PlayStation game console, with Gran Turismo you can’t go wrong.
