Gran Turismo was out on Friday the 25th of August. It is the story of young Jann Mardenborough who wants to be a racecar driver and how Gran Turismo and Nissan made this dream a reality for him.
Synopsis
Jann Mardenborough wants to be a racecar driver, he spends most of his free time behind the wheel of his PlayStation, playing his racing game and investing in gear to be even better at it. This is done to the displeasure of his father that only sees him, wasting his time in front of a screen playing a video game. Danny Moore is a marketing specialist that needs to get out of his current position. He decided to pitch to Nissan, that these gamers are the future car owners that Nissan needs to embarks and have them embrace the brand.
Game to movie
More often game transition to movies have been mediocre at best, Some have managed to do better but they are the exception. For this movie, the game is a part of it as it relates to a real story of what the game did for Jann. The movie also shows his state of mind when playing as well as when racing. There are some Easter eggs from the game in the movie as well as other game base graphics in it.
Heroes journey
The path that Jann is known and has been used before. Interesting that this time it is not a complete creation but based on a true story. Having the real Jann Mardenborough perform the stunts in the movie, to me gives it even more credibility. Willing to be part of a movie depicting a part of your life, adds to the authenticity of the project.
Final note
That movie is a 5 ALARM FIRE, no need to be a fan of the game to enjoy it. If you like high octane movie and fast cars, this one will deliver at high speed.
