Now in 3D
Horizon Call of the Mountain is the VR game that takes place in the Horizon Zero Dawn universe. This game is available since February 22nd exclusive to the PSVR2.
Getting used to the new gear
As stated in my review of the PSVR2, when I tried this game I was in my first steps with this new gear. It would have been unfair to review the game and provide a grade before getting used to the new headset and controllers. It was after quite a few hours that I got used to the gears and was able to answer the call.
Naturally
In Horizon Call of the Mountain the moves are some what more natural for the player, having to move yours arms back and forth for running makes perfect sense the same for climbing. But not for jumping, and the use of slow motion to make you think that you will not make it, increases the stress level of the game, but it does become a bit redundant after a while.
Environment
To be immersive a game needs to allow the player to interact with as much of the environment possible. For this one, it offers the player a large amount of interactive objects, many containers will allow the player to find food that will replenish your life gage, but also ammunition for the different types of arrows. Even if some of the containers are empty, that is okay, as they are interactive and makes it more real. This shows that Guerilla Games did put a lot of effort in filling the environment and not only applying graphics to the décor.
Not easy being a hunter
The main aspect of the game is hunting the mechanized beast, they are plentiful in the world Horizon Zero Dawn. In this one as they are in your face during the combat, it seems that our natural reflexes take over quite rapidly and we often forget the movement the game requires of us to make to complete those specific actions. But don’t despair, practice make almost perfect.
Finale note
Exclusive for the PSVR2 system on the PS5, this game is Flaming Hot. The game also shows that the Horizon Zero Dawn universe is not only for Aloy, but can be open to other characters and regions.
