Santa Monica Studio – MLB The Show 23

Play ball!

MLB The Show 23  like all of the other sports game, comes out every year like clockwork, and so it did again this year on March 24th. This year I wa not provided with a digital but an actual physical copy of the game from PlayStation Canada and the copy provided was for the PS4. The evaluation of crossplatform play and progression was possible with Xbox as the game was available on Game Pass.

Honors

With the Jackie Robinson Edition of the MLB the Show 21, the game honored the first Afro-American to join the MLB. In keeping with this tradition it is but normal that with the MLB The Show 23 the game that this time honored the whole Negro League. For those who are offended that I used the ”N” word you can send me your comments directly via email to martial.genest@phoenixci.net.

Little to no changes

Based on my evaluation, aside from the roster changes, nothing is noticeable as a change for this year’s edition of the game. Sorry Sony but micro transaction, come on, selling currency to purchase card packs for the Diamond Dynasty is just nasty. This is outdated and with the price of games being steep enough and the gaming budget of player growing ever smaller, you do need to rethink that strayegy. Graphic wise, the game remains very beautiful.

Finale note

Yes, the game is still HOT, but with the little changes to it, it is just as good as the previous one. Therefore there is no need to go out and buy it as it comes out. If you are a league player that is very different but for the everyday player, waiting for the game to be on sale is very smart. The historical content of the game is mostly the only reason to add it to your collection. As stated before the test for the evaluation was performed on the PS4 and the game was provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series and the Nintendo Switch.
