The Next Generation

Following the launch of the Xbox Series, the PlayStation 5 did hit the market on November 12th in lower quantity than expected by the buyers, this has caused some people to again take advantage of the demand and make some money off of impatient buyers. Not to Sony or any of the retailers fault. As long as people are willing to overpay for a commodity, there will be some unscrupulous individuals willing to jump on the occasion.

Look and feel: Flaming Hot

Comparing the size of the PS5 to the Xbox Series, the PlayStation is the bigger of the two. Presented in black and white version, so far I have only seen the White one, and people that pre-ordered them were not given the choice. At first glance the controller is bland, the colored buttons are no more, the are simply colorless now, and at first try the dual sense, does not feel like it is something special, but I will get to that later. For those who liked the light effect on the power up of the PS4, you will be in for a real treat on the power up of the PS5. At the time of writing these lines the ability to change the theme and to personalize your PlayStation, is not available on the PS5. The User Interface, is very different and does take some time to get used to.

Backward Compatibility :  Flaming Hot

If there is one element that the owner of the different versions of the PlayStations been asking, is for this new generation to be backward compatible, yes I now not all games will be, but on day one I took one of my old external hard drive that had some games on it, plugged it in and was able to play the games that were on,

Accessories : 5 Alarm Fire

Each generation of consoles, does come with some new accessories and this generation is no different. Starting with the Dual Sense controller, at first I did not noticed that the trigger had some force feedback and that some game are using this quite smartly. The controllers do help for immersion in the game, but nothing does it as well as being surrounded by the sounds of the game, the Pulse 3D wireless headset is magic, the sound quality is perfect and they do cut the background noise for a full immersion, just be careful of playing some horror games in the dark. For those using the PlayStation as their entertainment center and watching the streaming channels with it the PlayStation 5 Media Remote is an excellent addition to your accessories, the single button start of NetFlix, Dysney+, Spotify or YouTube make this a must have.  For streamers, the PlayStation 5 HD Camera is a great addition, not only is it powerful but it is so small, you barely notice that it is there. I am a long gaming session type of player, so the Dual Sense Recharge Station was a must for me.

Overall : Flaming Hot

The PlayStation 5 come loaded with your first game, Astro’s Playroom, not only will this game help you discover the full capability of the controller, but for the fans of the PlayStation consoles, it is a trip down memory lane. In disk or digital version, this new generation will keep you gaming for years to come. My evaluation was with a PlayStation 5 Disk version ,with the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset and the PlayStation 5 Media Remote, all components were provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment Canada.
