Power of a ROG in your hands
The ROG Ally is the latest hand held gaming console and was release in Canada on June 13th. It is the Asus Republic of Gamers response to Valve’s Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch. The size is similar but not the performance.
 Right out of the box
The content of the box is fairly simple. The ROG Ally, the charger, instructions and a base. Setting up the console was easy, all you need to know is how to setup a new Microsoft Windows computer. Yes, it comes with the Windows 11 pre-installed all you have to do is register it and create your profile. The base is the low point of it all, a simple piece of thin molded plastic with the letters ROG, and it is hidden in the lid of the box.
Gaming style
You want to play PC games on a handheld device? This is your answer. And you can play either remotely games that you have downloaded on your PC or install them directly on it. The choice is yours. I strongly recommend that you get a good capacity micro SD card, so you can carry a few games with you.
Gaming choices
Whit the competitor from Valve’s Steam Deck, Asus needed to offer more for the price point, and this was allowed with the use of the Windows 11 OS. Not only can you get your games from Steam, but Epic, Microsoft, Ubisoft Connect and EA, all of them can be setup in Asus Armoury Crate.
Performance
One of the main selling point of this device, his the quality of graphics of the display. I have tried a few shooters on it, and it was very smooth. Mind you, it was plugged in, which in turn enables the turbo. Battery life is about two hours, so always carry your charger with you or buy a power bank.
Finale note
For a pricy device, it does deliver, even it at time it reacts more like a keyboard less laptop than a console. With the video quality and and smoothness that it runs the games, it makes for it, other may be cheaper but your do not get the performance nor the selection of games. That device is a 5 ALARM FIRE if your budget can handle it.
