New look, Same old style
Out since August 23rd, the game is exactly what the fan of the franchise were expecting and a bit more. The home of the Saints is in Santo Ileso, a kind of Las Vegas look alike.Â
You and three friends are living together in a small apartment, you barely make end meet and paying the rent on time is a challenge on it’s own. The city is currently divided into 3 groups. The Panteros are the Hispanic motorhead with muscle cars and monster trucks. The Idols are the anti-establishment dressed in neon colors. And not to be forgotten the Marshalls a security firm that has more fire power than the local police force.Â
Violence and humor
As two of your friends are members of opposing gang and you just got a job with the security firm, where will this lead? As it can expected with games from Volition, mayhem is just around d the corner. Yes, the game is violent and very graphic about it. As per the previous titles rom the franchise, humor is present and prolific. Sometimes it even feels that the humor is present to reduce the amount of violence, or simply make it tolerable.
Gameplay
The game it self is pretty simple, built you criminal empire by building ventures and taking over the opposing groups territory and performing side missions. The shooting part of the game is okay, the driving on the other hand feels more like a Mario Kart game than the driving aspect of GTA. Is it part of the humor of the game, one would hope so as it is so ridiculous that it has to be funny.
Bugs
At the time of writing this, the game still suffers from some bugs. The main one, has to be the inability to perform actions.
Testing and grade
For the Review the game was tested on the PS5. The game is HOT and could have gotten a Flaming Hot grade if it had not been for having to restart the game so often because of bugs. Hopefully these get corrected quickly so the game can be enjoyed.
