Shattering the boundaries
Too often game are set in a specific style that does not push the limit or offer more. The Girl of Glass: A Summer Bird’s Tale just took the regular point and click adventure game and added the strategic turn base combat to the mix, this give the genre a whole new set of possibilities. Since September 22nd it is available on Steam.
The Girl of Glass if the perfect mix of painted background and animated characters, the point and click part of the game is classic with no visible hints as to what or where to click. This put your detective aptitude in the forefront. Yet some situation must be resolved by combat and this again requires the use of your brain, no need to learn complex button combination or have over the average button pressing speed. The combat system of this turn based uses a different approach, which resembles a chess match rather than a boxing one.
The Girl of Glass is a fresh approach to a gaming genre that existed for decades, it is no wonder it gain an recommendation of 91% as part of the Square Enix Collective in 2016. Markus continued work and effort prove to be a great game. I had the pleasure of trying the demo version and after a little over two hours of playing, I wanted more. I was happy to see that in the complete game it remains colorful and challenging enough to be quite enjoyable.
Gameplay Flamming Hot
The developer took a big chance with this game, by mixing the point and click with the turn based strategy combat, a new genre of game is being presented to players who could be new to one of the styles. It was also risky for them to mix both, but the risk doe spay off and the results is just an easy game to learn and enjoy. Unlike most quest game now, the items that you need to find in this game will not be highlighted or glint, you do have to search and solve the riddles.
Graphics Hot
Even by being simple the graphic of this game represents very well the storyline and the environment. it is not fully blown to distract from the game and are beautiful enough to help the storytelling. Sometimes it feels like playing in a Saturday morning cartoon.
Scenario 5 Alarm Fire
The scenario of this game is very simple it represents the dream of Krystal, this girl of glass who wants to leave the circus to discover the world and herself. Something that we have all done at one point or another in our own life. It can be so close that must of us can relate, therefore it connects to the player.
The game is simply fun, we loved it so much here that we at down as a couple and played it almost to the end in one session. Currently available on PC, looking forward to what will be next for this title.
