Just get me out of here!
Available since January 20th, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Extraction, the game that was delayed finally made it to the public. It marked the start of 2022 for Ubisoft Montreal as it’s first game out of the year.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction uses the Rainbow Six operators now members of the REACT team, who needs to complete missions in specific zone, gather information and destroy the creatures. completing mission objectives allows the user to upgrade the gear and gadgets. Contrary to the Containment event of Rainbow Six Siege, this game does not put players against players, but is only a coop game versus the environment.
When it was introduced during the E3 event, the game as most of Ubisoft games presented during that event, generated a lot of hype and expectations. for me, the final product is somewhat disappointing, the lack of single player mode is disheartening, after playing Aliens Fireteam Elite a few weeks back, the game as the same principals, but it did offer the ability to solo play with 2 AI squad members, something that is not present in Extraction, yet other titles of Ubisoft such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, does have that possibility, therefore it is not something alien to Ubisoft and in my opinion should have been included in this game, if not at least a lone wolf mode would have been appreciated.
The game seems to use the operators from Rainbow Six, and it does feel as if the publisher used the franchise to create more hype for a game, they were not too certain about, but by using the operators, they may attract more players, but honestly, most Rainbow Six players are enjoying it because of the PvP aspect of the game, and since this is currently lacking in this one, I don’t think this game will last very long.
To me Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six : Extraction is Lukewarm and should not have been presented as a Rainbow Six game, but just like Tom Clancy’s The Division as it’s own line as it is apparently taking place in a parallel universe.
For review purpose, the game was tested on the PlayStation 5, the review copy was provided by Ubisoft. The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows PC and Google Stadia.
