More horrific
Until Dawn (Remake) is the newer version of the game released in 2015, this remake uses the capabilities of new technologies available to make the horror even more gruesome. The game was released on October 4th, just in time for the spooky game season of Halloween.
Synopsis
A group of young adults meet in a ski chalet for the anniversary of a friend’s disappearance. This weekend is going to be a horror show because they are not alone. Every decision has an impact on who survives and who dies. Some of these teens have history with each others and sometimes there is even a little animosity between them. Will they manage to put aside these differences to survive until dawn?
Expectations
With more than 9 years since the original release, expectations for this new version were high. There is no doubt, the visuals of the game are even more frightening. Except that in the scale, the old problems of the original game are still present. Strong improvements in character control would have been a major fix. Gameplay suffers as it did in the original. This time running is only allowed in the cutscenes.
Just in time
With Halloween coming up, this 2024 version of the game is just in time. For players who did not have the pleasure of discovering this one, back in 2015, it is high time for you to take the leap in this game that puts you at the heart of a horror movie. Speaking of movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony would launch a movie based on the game in April 2025.
Finale note
For the purpose of the review, tests were performed on the PS5. The evaluation copy of Until Dawn (Remake) was courtesy of Sony Interactive Entertainment Canada. Better graphics, although in nine years, adjustments other than visual would have been appreciated. Perfect for players who have not yet met this one or for players who have already enjoyed The Quarry and would like more of this type of game. This game is simply lukewarm for me.
