West Coast Avengers anyone?
Wonder Man will start on January 27th on Disney + , I had the chance to see the whole series prior to the holidays and this is what I think about it, but you will get a chance to see for yourself soon enough.
Synopsis
Actor Simon Williams is no ordinary Hollywood worker and he seems to be on a path to self destruction. Why simply because the actor has super powers and if it was known, he would be banned from Hollywood, because of the dangers they pose. But the day he finds out that the director Von Kovak is remaking his childhood movie, Simon is bent on having that role and during the casting interview he meets Trevor Slattery that will help him on his journey.
Needed?
The Marvel Universe is full of characters. Do we need a mini series for each? Definitely not. With the death of Tony Stark at the end of End Game, the need of a a member of the West Coast Avengers is need to create another superhero team and who else than Wonder Man to be the leader of this new group.
Origin
There is a drastic change in the origin of this Wonder Man, the comic book persona was the creation of Baron Zemo to destroy the Avengers, in this mini series it seems that the young Simon showed sign of power that went out of control in the childhood kitchen, a sign often attributed to mutants. Would the new Simon Williams be a mutant?
Final note
Wonder Man is a welcome change and the return of actor Ben Kingsley in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a welcome one. While being entertaining this mini series goes to show that having super power is not what it is cracked up to be.
