From victim to vengeance
Clayface from DC Studios will hit the theater on October 23rd. This makes the first solo Batman’s villain movie from the studio under the James Gunn direction. This is the third movie from the DC Universe for the Universe, 1st chapter, entitled Gods and Monsters.
Synopsis
Matt Hagen an aspiring actor gets his big break when he gets a nomination for an actor in a leading role. On the night that he celebrates, a young woman gets his attention enough to get him to bed, his problem is that she is the flame of a local mob boss. Markos Szabo decides to teach the young actor a lesson by cutting up his face. After loosing everything because of the disfigurement, and running out of option, Matt turns to Dr. Caitlyn Corr, a scientist, who worked on a regenerative treatment using nanites. It works but what of the side effects? This was the first human testing.
An excellent mixture
Clayface is between the comic book and the horror movie, some of the reaction from the crowd during the screening, is not one you expect from a superhero movie. Some scene can actually be somewhat disturbing from some viewers. By the way, if you do not like blood, do not go see that movie.
No bat in sight
Even if there is no mention of Batman or any vigilante in the city, elements of Gotham are quite present even the ever popular corrupted police force of the GCPD.
Final note
Clayface is well done, and fans of the Batman: The Animated Series, will recognize the inspiration from the two part episodes Feat of Clay. This definitely helped Mike Flanagan in writing the scenario. He is one of Batman’s favorite villains, a new member of the Rogue Gallery hits the big screen. The movie is HOT and right on time for Halloween.
