Not world but area
Marvel Wolverine is the long awaited new heros from the Marvel Universe to be placed in an video game in the Insomniac Games adaptation of the mutant universe.
Synopsis
You are Wolverine, a mutant with an adamantium skeleton, claws and a healing factor, which reduces your aging, but there is a flaw, you have no memories of your early life. You were once a member of Team X. But because of Bolivar Trask, you will need to work with them again to stop this mad man from exterminating mutants. Walter also needs your help to build an engine that will awake the mutation that is dormant in some mutants.
Gameplay
The game if well designed, the use of other abilities like following a scent, makes sense as Wolverine is a beast, but can use more than his claws. Speaking of the claws, don’t worry you will get to use them profusely, the game combat has you, parry, dodge and attacks in rapid sequences even some jump attacks to close distance to an attacker. Sthealth, yes, it can be used in this game, and as a hunter, Wolverine can be quite good at it. The game world is not open like the Spiderman series, it feels more like area base in the Ratchet and Clank style from the same studio.
X is the name
Even if it was stated that the X-Men do not exist in Marvel Wolverine, the presence of some of the members are there. For the novice many of the names will mean nothing, and that is okay as they do not impact the game in any shape or form. For an initiated in the lore of the Marvel Universe, more precisely the mutants, you will find many references to members of the X-Men, by the alias name. These mentions could open the door for more Marvel Mutant title from that studio.
Final note
Marvel Wolverine from Insomniac Games was provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game was played on a regular PS5. It is short as it took my 20 hours to complete the storyline. I did not find all the collectibles, I did not get all the chest, therefore I was not able to get all the costumes. I also did not get the Adamantium rating in all the memories. The game is HOT, and I will definitely do another run or try to complete what I missed, but as it is so violent, it is a good thing that it is that short.
