An encounter with the truth
Disclosure day will be in the cinema as of June 12th. Steven Spielberg directing this new science fiction drama on a subject that he excels with including the bond between characters.
Synopsis
As the world is in turmoil and a global conflict imminent, a young digital security specialist steals a very large quantity of secret data from a private research company, that send a team to recuperate it. Daniel Keller receives directions from Hugo that wants to make this information made public so the world would know. It therefore a race between David and Margaret to get the information out there and Noah Scanlon trying to get the data back and bury it again.
Rocky road
The flow of the movie is inconsistent, we do get a fast pace start, but then it slows down and the end feels a bit rush as if it was an after thought. But even then that 2hiur and 25 minutes do go by fast.
More questions than answers
The movie is about revealing the presence of alien beings and how a private research company managed to collect specimens, reverse engineered alien technologies. Yet the movie shows us three alien artifacts of the same shape, but used in a different manner. Are the artifact different with each its own power or it as the user needs it to perform? The private firm has a tactical intervention unit that rivals the FBI, yet there seems to be no intervention from the local law enforcement. How is it possible for a private force act so openly in the United States? I am for dramatization, but do have some sense of credibility.
Final note
Disclosure Day is the third alien movie by Steven Spielberg and this one will not reach the stars. As in ET the Extraterrestrial and Close Encounter of the Third Kind, you get to believe that is hope for humankind, but your hope for Hollywood cinematic excellence is again put on ice.
