MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 4 VS 4 fighting game which can be played, alone, couch or online challenges. The game launched on August 6th. The game was developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Synopsis
Earth’s mightiest heroes must work together to defeat the Champion and save the Earth from extinction. Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther and the Hulk must first beat the other contender teams in order to advance to the final match-up against the Champion.
Art style
While the characters are from the Marvel Universe, it is clear that this game art style was influenced by Japanimation and/or Manga. The V shape design on Iron Man helmet is akin to Voltron. As for the messenger she has some similarities with Sailor Moon.
Game mode
For players that enjoy fighting games but don’t want to deal with other players online, these modes are available to you. Story mode is a 10 hour episode style campaign. Survival mode, fight enemies one after the other with very little healing and see how long you can last. Training /Character guides discover and learn the different moves and skills off each playable character. Local Versus compete against a friend on the same console. For those that are into competitive style of play, the online mode of Ranked Match is perfect for you and see how high you can climb the competition ladder. Need to test some new combos against online players but don’t want your rank to be affected, use the Casual Match and try things out safely.
Final note
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls game copy was provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment and the game was tested on the standard PS5. The game is easy to learn and play, even for casual gamers, the representation of the Marvel characters is well accomplished. This game is a 5 Alarm fire.
