Bethesda – Starfield

Bethesda aiming for the stars

Starfield released to the PlayStation 5  about two and a half year after the release on Xbox and Windows PC. So after being used to get the Bethesda releases at the same time the users of the Sony console had to wait.

Synopsis

You are the new recruit of a mining company and your team has been tasked into retrieving a strange item from the bedrock. Once you located the artifact and cleared it from the rock formation, you are able to grab it. But as soon as you touch it, your brain is assaulted by visions and sounds that renders you unconscious. You awake and get to meet another human that had the same experience. It does not take long for space pirates to attack the mining site. Barret the agent that paid for the extraction suggest that you bring the artifacts to the group called Constellation, once you accept, this is how your adventure begins.

Much ground to cover

The size is astronomical, from planets, moons, space-stations and ships, there is much to explore and discover. Your skills can be selected, and each level has its own set of goals to enable you to level it up. You will also need to scan the fauna, flora, resources and special areas to gain experience. you can do research in such field as food, mods, pharmaceutical. This will help you survive, build outpost, modify, your spacesuit, weapons and your ship. And if that was not enough you will also work with members of Constellation as a team members and others you will be able to recruit.

Bethesda never changes

It is no secret, Bethesda is known for putting out games that are full of bugs. There was one in particular that was present when the game released on Xbox in 2023. Your game data you be so large that the game would simply freeze. You would have to close and restart from the last save file. you would play a bit more and it would happen again. Back then when it happened was review was done, so I just shelved the game and moved on to another. When I started my playthrough on the PS5, I did not expect to run in the same issue. Well I was wrong, the game has the same bug. It was announced that a fix would be released on April 23rd, so I waited for the patch to be applied  and run the game before I wrote this review. If you think that I am mentioning this be cause the bug is still present after the patch, you would be right. After the patch was applied I booted the game and I was not in five minutes of exploration on a planet that the game froze. Over two years and the issue is still present.

Final note

Starfield is the biggest Bethesda game so far, but it is also the biggest disappointment. With this game I feel like I stepped out in the void of space and I can barely stay WARM, good thing is that in space, nobody can hear you scream.
